Catleya is a regional blend made with coffees from the Tequendama province of Cundinamarca department and Lengupá province of Boyacá department, both located on the Eastern Andes mountain range, forming the Cundiboyacense plateau.
In this region, the indigenous Muisca tribe was settled before the Spanish conquest for which it is nowadays a preceramic and ceramic archaeological site. Their names come from the chibcha language where Tequendama means "he who precipitates downward“ and Lengupá “site of the river”.
This Cundiboyacense region is mountainous with altitudes ranging between 1100 to 4000 meters above sea level, it hosts a number of rivers and lakes, and it is surrounded by and contains various Andean unique ecosystems: páramos (moorlands). 60% of all páramos in the world are situated in Colombia. Thanks to this, complex microclimates are combined with clay loam and volcanic ash soil and up to 2 meters of annual rainfall resulting in high quality agricultural products, especially coffee.
