  • Sweet black tea, coconut, black pepper, lemon acidity, floral, clean finish, medium body.
  • This is a very versatile coffee. We love keeping this coffee from Aricha at a light roast to keep all those fruit notes. At medium roasts the black tea and caramel shine through.

About the coffee:

Nearly 1000 smallholder family farmers surrounding the Aricha village deliver freshly picked coffee cherries to the nearby Adorsi washing station in the Yirgacheffe district located in the Gedeo zone. Yirgacheffe is often recognized for the extremely high-quality coffees being grown in the rich and fertile district, and this washed coffee is no exception. With elevations exceeding 2100 meters above sea level, the coffee grown in Aricha provides a bright and complex cup with a myriad of floral notes, fresh matcha, caramel, subtle spice and a juicy mango flavor that coats the tongue.

The Adorsi washing station is owned and operated by the Yonis family. As part of the quality control process, fresh cherries are floated in water to separate lower qualities before depulping. Traditional disc pulpers are used and the coffee is allowed at least 24 hours to ferment before being fully washed and set to dry on raised beds for 10-12 days on average. We have had the pleasure of working with Adham Yonis and his brother Eskinder Yonis for six years and the coffee never disappoints!

Aricha never disapoints!

I was really excited and couldn't wait to see the tasting notes of the new Aricha. I have to say, I wasn't happy with them when I first saw them. But I am happy to say that this coffee never disappoints. I can't believe how good it is. The tasting notes aren't like the Arichas in the past, but the coffee is just as good or even better. It always amazes me how precise and accurate Hacea is with describing the notes of the coffee. You see black pepper in there with coconut and that just doesn't sound good to me but WOW! on how all those notes work together. I let the coffee get cold and tried it and it was fantastic. I tried it as a single origin espresso and it was fantastic and that was on my first pull of it! It was easy to roast as well. My end temp was 406F and been development of 20.8%. This coffee won't be around for long, that's for sure, so make sure you get some while you can.

My Favorite For Three Years Now

Aricha has been my favorite coffee to roast, sell, and drink for three years now. The two years were a natural and this third year a washed. I do like the natural better as a coffee but I like the washed better for espresso. Both soooo good. I buy a sack of it each crop and it always sells out quick. This bean is forgiving to roast and just a delight.
