About the coffee:

Raul Rodriguez is a third generation coffee producer. Finca Santa Lucia belonged to his father, Don Ermenegildo Rodriguez who had the spirit of forward thinking and innovation. This led Don Ermenegildo to cultivate quality-forward coffee varieties such as typica, yellow bourbon and caturra. Finca Santa Lucia is situated in the national reserve of Montaña de La Choca. The mountain reserve hosts a variety of exotic wildlife (the Toucan is Raul’s favorite) and surrounds the farm with a cloud forest in which the coffees thrive. Well-defined wet and dry seasons give the coffee the water needed to produce very sweet ripe cherries and the sun that is necessary to try the coffee during harvest.

Raul Rodriguez is always pushing for better quality coffee and has recently planted Obata and Pacamara varieties on his certified organic farm. There are 15 permanent team members who live and work on the farm with their families. During harvest the farm will hire approximately 75 seasonal workers to pick the coffee. Don Raul pays his employees the highest salaries in the region and has donated part of his profits to install electricity and a kitchen in the local school that is needing renovations. Hacea Coffee Source is partnering with Nelson Amador to offer this coffee. Nelson is the grandson of Raul Rodriguez and we are happy to be able to share this family coffee!
