  • Floral and honey fragrance followed by green apple, white grape and dark chocolate aroma. Notes of brown sugar, green apple and vanilla with a complimentary aftertaste of brown spice, black tea and chamomile. Lemon citrus and a lactic acidity stand out excellently and are followed by a creamy mouthfeel and medium-heavy body.
  • This is a very versatile coffee. We love keeping this coffee from Aricha at a light roast to keep all those fruit notes. At medium roasts the black tea and caramel shine through.

As part of the quality control process, fresh cherries are floated in water to separate lower qualities before depulping. Traditional disc pulpers are used and the coffee is allowed at least 24 hours to ferment before being fully washed and set to dry on raised beds for 10-12 days on average.

Clean, complex, lovely

You definitely get berry and almost a candy lemon here. It’s sweet and cut w a little acid. Lingering rich mouthfeel, creamy is perfect description. Has a gentle earthiness (not overwhelming like some less favorable yirgacheffes) and also has an earl grey/oolong with a splash of milk kind of quality. Perfect for just after wrapping before end of first crack and brewed at a lower temp 90C on a V60 or origami. A very zen morning hot coffee but as I’ve always believed that when you get a very good washed yirgacheffe: a nice cup of drip over ice is perfect.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Eddie!

If you enjoyed this washed coffee from Aricha, I really recommend trying out the washed coffee from Nensebo before its gone. The Guji coffee from Gigesa station is also really nice but you have some time to try it as we have a lot more available.
