Notes: Adjust recipe to taste per coffee. A paper filter can be used on top of the metal filter for a cleaner finish. Using the metal filter without the paper filter may be more reminiscent of typical espresso.
Making small grind setting adjustments to dial in each coffee is recommended before altering other brewing parameters.
Darker roasts may require coarser grind and potentially lower water temperatures, pending taste.
Set up and brewing instructions
Fill kettle with water and bring to 205°F
Weigh out 20 gramsof whole bean coffee
Grind coffee just before brewing
Assemble Fellow Prismo attachment. Add an AeroPress paper filter on top of Prismo mesh filter for a cleaner finish. Try skipping the paper filter for a more traditional espresso-like drink.
Attach Prismo attachment to the AeroPress
Pour a small amount of hot water into the AeroPress to rinse the filter and preheat the brewer. Discard the rinse water
Place AeroPress on the scale
Pour ground coffee into the Aeropress after rinsing. Gently tap the side of the aeropress to level out the settled coffee grounds
Tare scale to zero
Begin pouring water at 205°F and start a timer for 1:30 minutes
Pour 65 milliliters of water on top of coffee grounds and then stir vigorously. The very fine grind is prone to clumping so make sure to break up any clumps of dry grounds.
After the 1:30 timer is complete, gently swirl the brewer to agitate the grounds before pressing.
Slowly press the plunger down for 0:30 seconds until a “hiss” of air is heard.
Discard spent coffee grounds and rinse brewer
Serve fresh on its own, over ice or mix with your favorite latte ingredients for a delicious iced latte at home!
