Hacea Roasting Championship Rules and Prizes

Below is the original rules and prizes post:

Join us for Hacea Coffee Source's inaugural roasting championship! This competition is for everyone, from home hobby roasters to large professional roasters. Each competitor will receive a set of 3 mystery green coffees which they will use to create a custom blend that they will roast and submit for judging.

The Rules:

• Entry packs can be purchased online through the Hacea Coffee Source website. Entry packs will be available in different sizes to accommodate different roaster sizes/capacities. This inaugural competition will be limited to 1 single entry per participant and no more than 100 participants.
• Entries are per person, not per company.  Multiple individuals from a single company may enter, but each must purchase their own entry pack.  One entry per purchased entry pack.
• All entry packs will begin shipping on Friday, July 26th.
• Each entry pack will include 3 different mystery green coffees labeled as "A" "B" and "C." Each participant will create their own blend using all three of the mystery coffees.
• Each participant must include at least 10% of each of the three mystery coffees in their blend. 
• The blend must use  mystery coffees provided in the competition pack exclusively, without any additional components. 
• All entries must send 250 grams of their roasted coffee blend packaged in a provided bag. A pre-paid return label and envelope for shipping 250 grams will be provided.
• All entries must fill out the provided identification label that is included on the roasted coffee bag.
• Entries must be received before Tuesday, August 20th at the Hacea tasting room for judging and evaluation. Entries can be mailed or dropped off in-person. Please put labeled entries through the mail slot on our front door if the door is locked. 
• Each coffee will be brewed using  Hacea’s Hario V60 recipe for judging and evaluation (full recipe is available on our blog).
• Judging and evaluation will be based on a custom scorecard which will be provided with each entry pack.
• The top 5 coffees will be brewed and served at the awards party on Saturday, August 24th, where party-goers will cast votes for a special “People’s Choice” award.
• All participants will receive their evaluation results by email after the winners are announced.
• Awards party will be Saturday, August 24th from 4pm-7pm at Regent Coffee 
• Regent Coffee - 4682 York Blvd, Los Angeles, CA
• The event is free to attend and open to all
• Awards will be announced and distributed at the event. Those unable to attend will be contacted and have prizes shipped to them.

• Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 scoring coffees (from the judge’s scores) and the top “People’s Choice” coffee (by in person votes at the awards party).
