HER Coffee is a new program by Hacea Coffee Source dedicated to amplifying the voices of women in coffee. While women contribute nearly 70% of the labor involved in growing, harvesting, and processing coffee, they often face significant barriers to accessing global markets. HER Coffee was created to change that by sourcing directly from women producers and bringing their coffees to roasters across the U.S. The program opens doors for producers to showcase their craft, gain recognition for the quality they deliver, and grow their presence in the specialty market.

HER Coffee goes beyond market access by also addressing the health disparities faced by women in coffee-growing regions. Hacea Coffee Source has partnered with Grounds for Health, a nonprofit that has worked since 1996 to prevent cervical cancer in Latin America and East Africa. To date, Grounds for Health has screened more than 240,000 women and treated over 20,000 for cervical pre-cancer. Cervical cancer remains the number one cause of cancer death for women in many of the countries where coffee is grown, despite being almost entirely preventable with early detection and treatment.

Through HER Coffee, every full bag sold creates an immediate and measurable impact. For each full bag sold, Hacea makes a donation to Grounds for Health that pays for one cervical cancer screening kit. One bag equals one kit—giving one more woman access to life-saving care. This innovative screening process includes self-testing with HPV swabs, offering greater accuracy and efficiency in rural communities where healthcare access is limited. By linking every purchase directly to a test, HER Coffee provides a tangible way to protect women’s health at origin.

HER Coffee is about empowerment at every level—empowering women producers to succeed in the marketplace and empowering women in coffee-growing regions to safeguard their health. Roasters who choose HER Coffee are not only highlighting exceptional coffees but also investing in stronger, healthier communities in producing countries. These women are the backbone of the coffee industry, and HER Coffee is designed to honor their work, protect their futures, and create lasting opportunities for growth.
